While the I5+ is an excellent machine for homes of all sizes however, it's important to remember that it's not designed for rooms with carpets or stairs. It's a tiny dustbin, and won't sweep your entire home in the event of lots of pet waste or debris. Take a look at the i7 and i9 models if you want a Roomba with more power to withstand difficult environments. These robots are able to mop wet and are more suited for stairs. iRobot Roomba Combo i7

This model is a premium version that comes with premium features and class-leading performance that will attract buyers away from the vast majority of cheaper competitors. The most notable upgrade is an automatic dirt disposal system that eliminates the need to empty a trash bin after every clean. Another feature is persistent mapping, which allows the i7+ to remember the layout of your home and adapt to different floor plans on a dime.

The Combo i7+ is easy to set up, with an easy app walkthrough as well as clear instructions on the screen that help you through the initial registration and setup procedure. Once the i7+ reaches maximum capacity in its dustbin it returns to its Clean Base, empties the contents and gets itself ready for the next clean. When it's time to add cleaning fluid, you simply hit a button on either side of the robot, and the small water tank and dustbin clips open.

The only issue is that the Clean Base occupies a lot of space. This makes it difficult to store the i7+ in an area where it's not in use. However it's a common issue with robots cleaning and most manufacturers provide smaller charging stations that are more compact. They are also able to fit under cabinets, making it easier to hide your iRobot when it is not in use. iRobot has reached out to us following publication to clarify that the Combo i7+ is designed to be used only with the manufacturer-approved cleaning solution (sold separately). It is not recommended to use water as this can cause damage to internal components and decrease performance.
