iRobot That Vacuums and Mops in Your Home

A sensor on the bottom of the mop will let you know when it's running low. The robot has excellent navigation and can move around your home without hitting any obstacles. It has issues with certain kinds of carpet, however, and may stop working when it notices a rug in its route.

iRobot vSlam Navigation is not as precise as the other robot vacuums that we've tested. During our test the robot zigzagged around in what seemed like random ways before forming an outline of your home. We didn't find this to be a problem during real-world use, but it was difficult when trying to set up a specific cleaning route.

Another cool feature is iRobot's ability to identify objects in its path. It makes use of a camera and PrecisionVision to identify things like cords, shoes, toys and pet waste so that it can avoid them or go around them while mopping. It performed well during our testing and we were amazed by the amount of pet waste that it avoided.

When the iRobot finishes its vacuum or mopping, it returns to its dock and empties its dirt compartment into an internal trash bag that iRobot says won't need changing for a period of time. The iRobot then returns to its dock and resumes the task it was performing before returning. The iRobot bin-full sensor could cause it to return to the dock, even when the bin isn't full.

Smart Navigation

Irobot roomba models has been in the robotics business for 30 years now and has brought us FDA-approved remote presence robots used in hospitals, invented practical home robots such as Roomba and paved the way for the first mop / vacuum in a robot.
