A lightweight compact stroller will be a great choice for those who often travel on public transportation or in a car. These strollers are easy to fold and store and less likely to be damaged by baggage handlers.

These strollers are lightweight and provide modern convenience and are easy to navigate on cobblestones. They can also be easily stored in the overhead compartments of planes.

Lightweight

The most compact pushchairs are lightweight to carry, and even more importantly, simple to fold. They are often simple to fold with just one hand and take up less space when folded than full size buggies. They're a good option when you don't have lots of space in your home, or if you're concerned about space limitations when traveling.

Some also have a very small footprint when closed which allows you to walk through tight spaces. They are the best option for those who reside in an apartment or want something lightweight and lightweight for your daily walking. They aren't ideal for older children who have to extend their legs to move around.

There are many different types of folds to choose from, some can be completed with just one hand while others require two hands or more effort. Some are designed to fit into the baggage allowances for cabin baggage on many flights, and can be carried over your shoulder with straps or handles.

For a light pushchair, our favorite is the Silver Cross Dune. The Silver Cross Dune is a compact pushchair buggy that comes with all the thoughtful features and a smart design you'd expect from a brand with a long history. It comes with an easy-to-use fold, and like the Contours Itsy comes fully assembled in the box. It's an excellent choice for parents who will be traveling a lot with their baby. It fits in the majority of car trunks and tiny trunk spaces.

Another option is the Cybex Mios, which straddles the two categories of pushchairs as a fully-functioning travel system with mobility and a small fold. It can be used in a parent-facing mode right from birth and changed to world-facing as your child gets older. It also comes with a decent recline feature that's suitable for napping. It's not as compact as the Libelle however it's a bit smaller and more comfortable to use on flat surfaces. It is not suitable for rough terrain. Another benefit is the low cost and outstanding tests of durability.

Easy to store

The Joie Pact Pro is the ideal travel stroller, folding up so small that it can fit into an overhead luggage compartment, and is so light that you'll barely notice it in your car boot. It is also a good stroller for daily use. Our tester Hollie found it easy to steer, even when trying to manage a toddler. She was impressed by the adjustable handle with lockable wheels, as well as the reclining seat. However, she noted that it wasn't particularly comfortable. She also likes the fact that you can add other features like a reversible and washable seat cover, rain cover and an ear muff for feet.

The Babyzen YoYO is a different, impressively compact fold pushchair. It isn't as streamlined as the Cybex Libelle, but it's still a very neat foldable product that is easy to slot in and out of trunks and boots. It also has more options for newborns than other travel buggies, with the option of adding the bassinet or cot for newborns as well as a custom ride-on board designed for older children and a tandem double seat adapter.

The YOYO isn't the most compact buggy to drive on uneven or rough terrain. Its tiny wheels do not perform as well as other models that we have evaluated. However, it's a very manoeuvrable pushchair and the YOYO is capable of maneuvering narrow shopping aisles and muddy trails. It's a great option for a city break or holiday.

The Cosatto Bee6 is a compact travel buggy that offers many features for a very low price. It can be folded down to the size and weight of a large bag, and is easy to carry on trains and planes. It's also very easy to use and our MFM reviewer Matt was a joy to steer, even with a heavy toddler in the. He also appreciated the hood that slides low enough to shield from the sun and rain and help with napping. Its only drawback is that there's no storage under the seat and you'll have to carry or delicately drape your bag on the handlebars (against the advice of an expert!). Alternatively, you can purchase an additional changing bag holder to make this an ideal buggy for the holidays.

Easy to maneuver

The wheels on compact pushchairs and buggies may appear small, but they typically perform surprisingly well, navigating narrow shopping aisles or rough terrain effortlessly. The Micralite is a perfect example, despite having tiny wheels, it navigates bumpy roads effortlessly, turns sharply on narrow streets and even is able to handle lightly sand without a lot of difficulty. It also has a smooth steering system that is easy to steer with just one hand. It folds down into a neat and compact package which is easily fit into its carrying bag.

Most compact pushchairs are designed for older babies and toddlers however, an increasing number offer a lie-flat seating or the option of adding an extra carrycot (or baby car seat) to ensure they are suitable from the time of birth. These clever concertina or Z-fold buggies tend to be very light at 6-8kg and can be cabin approved by a wide range of airlines, making them perfect for travel. MFM Editor Gemma says she has used it on a number of occasions and finds it easy to use and store.
